Role: Product / UX Designer (Freelance) · Client: Bylukz - online shopping platform (India) · Type: Gamified rewards feature · Platform: iOS & Android

In one line

Bylukz is a shopping app - people arrive to buy, then leave. I designed Scratch & Win to give them a reason to come back on a day they weren't buying anything: a small daily moment of "let's see what I got," tied to real rewards they could spend inside the app.

The problem

A shopping app has a quiet-day problem. People open it when they need something, check out, and disappear until the next purchase. Between orders, engagement drops off a cliff.

Bylukz wanted a rewards loop to close that gap. Three things made it tricky:

So the real question wasn't "add a game." It was: how do we build a daily habit that feels rewarding and honest at the same time?

Who it's for

Everyday Bylukz shoppers in India - value-conscious, already browsing deals, and quick to distrust anything that smells like a gimmick. The design had to earn a tap, not trick one.

How we got here

I didn't start in Figma. I started with a few uncomfortable questions.

1. What actually makes someone come back tomorrow?

Not points - anticipation. A scratch card works because you don't know the result until you act. That tiny gap between tap and reveal is the whole thing, so the reveal had to feel physical and satisfying, not like a loading spinner.
